Maldives has recently been promoted to a Developing Country from the Least Developed Countries category. However, the living standard of the Maldivian people does not reflect that rise.The only indication that the economic well-being of the country has improved is the criminal misappropriation of state funds sustaining President Gayyoom's lavish life style.
